چکیده

Annealing is widely used in the thermomechanical processing of metallic alloys. Usually, ductility enhances while strength decreases because defects annihilate with increase annealing temperature. Here, we report a simultaneous improvement and TiZrNbTa high-entropy alloy by promoting phase dissolution increasing When performed from 800 to 1250°C, tensile yield increases 40% 1003 ± 16 MPa, elongation nearly doubled 16.79% 1.03%. The annealing-induced promotes lattice distortion, contributing enhanced friction stress strength. correspondingly decreased interface mismatch alleviates concentration, stimulated formation local chemical orders encourages coplanar slip dislocation multiplication. Both occurrences boost ductility. These results not only expand our understanding effect materials, but also provide an insight into designing strong ductile

Searching for Next Single-Phase High-Entropy Alloy Compositions

There has been considerable technological interest in high-entropy alloys (HEAs) since the initial publications on the topic appeared in 2004. However, only several of the alloys investigated are truly single-phase solid solution compositions. These include the FCC alloys CoCrFeNi and CoCrFeMnNi based on 3d transition metals elements and BCC alloys NbMoTaW, NbMoTaVW, and HfNbTaTiZr based on ref...

Polymorphism in a high-entropy alloy

Polymorphism, which describes the occurrence of different lattice structures in a crystalline material, is a critical phenomenon in materials science and condensed matter physics. Recently, configuration disorder was compositionally engineered into single lattices, leading to the discovery of high-entropy alloys and high-entropy oxides. For these novel entropy-stabilized forms of crystalline ma...

High pressure synthesis of a hexagonal close-packed phase of the high-entropy alloy CrMnFeCoNi

High-entropy alloys, near-equiatomic solid solutions of five or more elements, represent a new strategy for the design of materials with properties superior to those of conventional alloys. However, their phase space remains constrained, with transition metal high-entropy alloys exhibiting only face- or body-centered cubic structures. Here, we report the high-pressure synthesis of a hexagonal c...

Phase Composition of a CrMo0.5NbTa0.5TiZr High Entropy Alloy: Comparison of Experimental and Simulated Data

Microstructure and phase composition of a CrMo0.5NbTa0.5TiZr high entropy alloy were studied in the as-solidified and heat treated conditions. In the as-solidified condition, the alloy consisted of two disordered BCC phases and an ordered cubic Laves phase. The BCC1 phase solidified in the form of dendrites enriched with Mo, Ta and Nb, and its volume fraction was 42%. The BCC2 and Laves phases ...

Metallurgical and mechanical properties of laser cladded AlFeCuCrCoNi-WC10 high entropy alloy coating

In spite of excellent corrosion resistance, good ductility and low cost of AISI 316 austenitic stainless steel, the low hardness and poor mechanical charecteristic of material restricts its applicability in several industrial services. To improve upon mechanical properties AlFeCuCrCoNi-WC10 high-entropy alloy coatings were deposited via laser cladding on austentic stainless steel AISI 316 subst...
